A Taste of Action Academy | Five Decades of Attack On The Voting Rights Act

  • COMMON POWER PO Box 51125 Seattle, WA 98115 United States (map)

Join us on zoom for the final event of Action Academy April! Pouya Souri, Action Academy alum and currently a Common Power Fieldwork Associate, will present his year-long research project focused on political conservatives’ plans to destroy the crowning jewel – Section 5 – of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. The John Roberts Court in 2013 accomplished this mission, and Pouya will take us through 5 decades of attempts and strategy to get this done. He will finish by providing thoughts about parallels with abortion rights and the importance of CP’s mission.

Action Academy Director Larcy Douglas will provide a final update on the Summer 2024 Academy cohort, and Action Academy alum and CP Development Associate Jordyn Schulte will share information about the status – hopefully resounding success! – of our month-long funding campaign.
